What happened in the Liverpool dressing room after Hull humiliation revealed

Jurgen Klopp loses his temper on the touchline regularly, but is renowned for being far more conservative and analytical in the dressing room.

Against Hull on Saturday though, the German lost the plot, both at half-time and full-time, with Liverpool falling to a miserable 2-0 defeat which saw us keep needless possession, create barely anything and concede sloppy goals.

This is according to Dominic King, Liverpool correspondent, in the Daily Mail.

It’s been like this since the turn of the calendar year and clearly Klopp, as us fans have, has had enough.

Here’s what King wrote in his Mail column:

“Jurgen Klopp delivered a furious dressing room dressing down to Liverpool’s players after their stuttering season hit a new low at Hull on Saturday.

“With Liverpool’s title aspirations having disintegrated in the meekest possible fashion, Klopp did not spare his players in the aftermath of a damaging defeat.

“Though Klopp is emotional on the touchline, he tries to take a more measured approach behind closed doors and his only eruptions at Liverpool so far came following a 2-0 loss at West Ham last January and a 0-0 draw with Augsburg in the Europa League 12 months ago.

“He could not contain his anger, however, at the KCOM Stadium and his squad were left under no illusions over how unhappy the manager was with the manner of their display. The first 45 minutes, in particular, left him incensed.”

We’re glad the players got the hairdryer treatment as quite frankly, they deserve it. This same bunch were playing for each other before Christmas but now look bereft of ideas and more worrying – passion.

Thankfully, they now have a week break before the Spurs clash – which will represent the first six day break between matches since 2016.

Spurs are a direct rival for the top four, and we have to hope the players raise their games for Tottenham’s visit – as another defeat will have us looking over our shoulder at Everton rather than in front of us.
