Bayern Munich superstar discusses Liverpool’s current plight under Klopp

Germany and Bayern Munich starter Mats Hummels has discussed his former manager Jurgen Klopp’s current predicament at Liverpool.

Klopp made Hummels great at Borussia Dortmund and the pair still enjoy a close relationship.

So much so, the 28-year-old claims he watches nearly every Liverpool match.

Hummels told Goal: “I do a lot. I watch the games if I have the time – nearly every one.

“Of course it’s a pity for me that he is having such a bad period at the moment. They were eliminated from the FA Cup and League Cup.

“I’m supporting him and I wish him success. They are having a hard time at the moment.”

If you fancy, Mats, you can head over to England and sort out our backline yourself!

Liverpool’s defence has been miserable for the majority of Klopp’s reign in fairness – and the fanbase would be completely delighted if a proven stopper of Hummels’ calibre arrived in the summer.

That’s a pipe-dream sadly, as since the world-class centre-back moved to the perennial Bundesliga champions, it looks as though he’ll see out his best years in his homeland.

Instead, Liverpool are likely to blood Joe Gomez and remain faithful with Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren, who at times have looked solid this term – if a little inconsistent.

A clean-sheet against Spurs on Saturday would be a terrific way to start turning the corner.
