Reds will love this; Klopp sets out next 16 days as a February pre-season

If you thought Jurgen Klopp was about to settle for fourth, think again.

A 16 day break from action for this Liverpool team could spell danger for our Premier League rivals, especially after yesterday’s emphatic victory over Tottenham.

The players will not only get a much-needed rest period but they will also be eager to get back on the field and build on Saturday’s performance.

One game has altered the entire mood and outlook at the club but it is up to the players now to continue what the win against Spurs proved they are capable of.

Klopp will welcome the opportunity to get back on the training ground and ensure his side is ready for a strong finish to the season.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “Really it’s not a shame – I love football but I have no problems with a few days where we can now really train. The boys will have a little bit of a rest and then we will start a pre-season, that’s how we understand it. We want to use the time and hopefully everybody can see that, it would make sense. But I would not be happy if tomorrow we could play again, so it’s all OK like it is.”

Two weeks for the players to refresh their legs couldn’t come at a better time and will be key in preparing everyone for a run of decisive games.

January was a month to forget, but it’s worth remembering that we are still only one point behind Arsenal and Tottenham, who sit third and second, respectively.

We are very much in the mix again and if our most recent win is anything to go by then the players are on their way towards rediscovering their form at the right time.
