Liverpool fans can’t stop debating Sergio Aguero’s potential transfer, and here’s why…

This is a weird one…

Back in 2006, when he was still a teenager plying his trade at Independiente, Sergio Aguero told the media how much he’d love to play for Liverpool one day.

“If I had to choose a league then it would be the Premier League,” he said in quotes relayed by Munich TZ, per Sky Sports.

“I have been a Liverpool fan for as long as I can remember and it would be a dream to play there.

“I watched the Champions League final and celebrated every goal as if it was for Independiente.”

Rafa Benitez was interested in the Argentine, but he eventually joined Atletico Madrid instead, where he made a name for himself before joining Manchester City – where he’s torn up trees since 2011, scoring 114 Premier League goals and winning two titles.

Now, for a quite bizarre reason, Pep Guardiola seems to edging Aguero out of the side so that new signing Gabriel Jesus can start centrally instead. Aguero’s been benched in recent weeks and the Spanish boss said he doesn’t know what the future holds for the 28-year-old.

As a result, Liverpool fans have put two and two together (maybe ending up with five…) and started furiously debating the rumoured transfer – that we’ve entirely conjured ourselves…

For us though, we’re not sure Aguero is the type of player Jurgen Klopp would sign. Guardiola has dropped him because he doesn’t do enough during buildup play or off the ball, the same reason Daniel Sturridge doesn’t play for Liverpool.

You could argue that these two are the best finishers in the country, but under coaches like Guardiola and Klopp, that’s of secondary importance.

What’s more, he’s just past his peak, has a nasty injury record and would cost an outrageous sum. We can’t see it happening at all.
