How Arsene Wenger could be key in Liverpool signing £10million England U21 star

These transfer rumours seem to reach a different level each year.

Don’t be mistaken into thinking Arsene Wenger is truly helping Liverpool secure the signing of a summer transfer target.

Rumours linking Liverpool to a move for Leicester’s Ben Chilwell have resurfaced with Jurgen Klopp believed to be an admirer of the England U21 international.

The Reds have also reportedly been joined by Arsenal in their pursuit of the defender but doubts over the future of Wenger could close the door on a move to the London club.

“Arsenal have also been monitoring his progress, but it is now certain that Arsene Wenger will quit the club in the summer, placing any interest in doubt,” reported the Daily Express.

Liverpool’s left-back position appears to be one of Klopp’s priorities this summer with the Reds boss looking to find a long term solution despite James Milner doing an adequate job in the role.

20-year-old Chilwell has only started three Premier League games for Leicester but has been tipped as a future England starter and will reportedly cost £10million.

That price-tag could even increase given the fact that the player signed a new contract last summer to keep him at with the champions until 2021.

It also remains to be seen what Klopp has planned for out of favour Alberto Moreno and how this could impact the club’s search for a new full-back.
