Would he be returning to the club in some format? Was he on a scouting mission for a rival…?

Nothing that exciting, actually.

Comolli was commentating for French outlet SFR Sport, having been fired by FSG in April 2012 – almost five years ago now…

He was heavily criticised for overspending on Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll, but in fairness, did bring Jordan Henderson and Luis Suarez to the club. The profit we made on the Uruguayan negates any of his failures, as does the fact the Englishman has turned into the club’s leader following Steven Gerrard’s exit.

Liverpool’s current Sporting Director is Michael Edwards, who will be preparing for his first major transfer window in charge.

We badly need a forward, a centre-back, a left-back and a central midfielder, too. It’s going to be expensive, but vital if we’re to avoid the kind of collapse in the future which affected us this campaign.
