Not only is Sunday’s clash with Burnley an important test of where Liverpool are at, but it is a vital opportunity for Divock Origi to reestablish himself at the club.
The striker looks set to be handed his first Premier League start since mid-January with Roberto Firmino looking likely to miss out due to a thigh problem.
Origi has been on the fringes of things for most of the season but could be given his chance to lead the line with Daniel Sturridge still injured.
The Belgian’s pace and power up top promises to add something different to Firmino’s flair and illusive movement across the front line. This could add to the dimension Sadio Mane already adds in not only out-manoeuvring and out-thinking Burnley but also out-muscling them.
It’s his chance to prove he can respond when called upon and come up with goals against the kind of team Liverpool have struggled against since the turn of the year. He has the aerial presence and the eye for a run in behind to trouble a Burnley defence that will also need to pay close attention to Mane himself and a Philippe Coutinho gradually returning to form.
Something different can’t hurt and Liverpool’s fans are feeling optimistic about what Origi is capable of offering.
Origi to shred the Burnley back four to pieces.

I would actually think origi against Burnley is ok gives us a different option in these games when we can’t break them down

Origi would play better against Burnley anyway, Firmino isn’t suited to teams that park the bus

When you’re thinking about how Firmino is injured but then you realise that means Origi will start against Burnley pic.twitter.com/SiABxr3t3V

Shame Bobby is injured but anyone else think Origi a better option against Burnley anyway? Also remember we didn’t have Mane for away game.

Origi would add much needed pace in attack against Burnley were he to play. Changing it up a little would make us less predictable.

Origi starting in place of Bobby, should’ve started even without injury. Need the pace and physicality to help break down Burnley

As long as Firmino is okay for City I don’t mind if he’s out this week, means Origi can start and we can approach Burnley differently ?
