Southgate makes personal call to Klopp to clear the air after Lallana injury…

Gareth Southgate, England’s manager, has decided to reach out to Liverpool’s boss Jurgen Klopp after news broke that Adam Lallana will miss a month injured following the international break.

Our midfielder, who’s probably been our player of the season, was used heavily in both the friendly against Germany and the victory over Lithuania, and will now miss our fixtures in April as a result.

Klopp was said to be furious that England overused and overtrained our 28-year-old, but according to a report in the Daily Mail, he’s now relaxed about the situation after Southgate’s call.

What’s most annoying is that the injury was sustained before half-time against Lithuania, but Lallana played on. Did the manager really not know he’d taken or not? To be fair, Liverpool’s player needs to take some responsibility for not asking to be substituted… We can’t imagine Daniel Sturridge would have stayed on, for example!

Lallana will miss the Merseyside Derby on Saturday and then games with Bournemouth, Stoke, West Brom and Crystal Palace, too…

Hopefully we can manage in his absence.
