But Gerrard still thinks we’re in a better position than rivals Arsenal and Manchester United, who currently sit in fifth and sixth respectively.
“I think Manchester City will get in there and Liverpool will be the other team,” he said, reported in the Star.
“I think Manchester United and Arsenal will miss out – that’s my prediction.”
If United win their games in hand, they’ll go level on points with us, as will Arsenal. We have a slightly superior goal-difference than both, and there’s no guarantees they’ll pick up consecutive wins, of course.
It’s better to have points on the board, but throwing away two last night was really stupid. If it proves costly at the end of the campaign, we’ll have only ourselves to blame.
