Sadio speaks: Mane’s 1st interview after surgery will please LFC fans

Sadio Mane underwent surgery on his knee injury this week, but everything went well and he’s on the road to recovery…

Our Player of the Season will miss the rest of the campaign after he was stretchered off in the Merseyside Derby two weekends ago, very disappointing considering how difficult we’ve found it to win without his pace and dynamism up top.

Without taking penalties or free-kicks, Mane has bagged 13 goals and registered five assists in the top flight – mightily impressive for a winger.

Thankfully, Mane is in positive spirits and we should see him during pre-season, which should prepare him for his second campaign at the club.

“It’s great that I have received so many encouraging messages from fans around the world, particularly on social media,” he told the official website.

“It makes me proud and gives me so much power that so many supporters of Liverpool FC and Senegal give me such great support. I’d like to say thank you to everyone.

“I will give my very best after yesterday’s successful surgery to be back on the pitch as soon as possible and be even better than before.”

In Mane’s absence, Liverpool’s other attackers need to step up. We need Coutinho and Roberto Firmino to continue pitching in with goals and Divock Origi to lead the line. Hopefully Daniel Sturridge can also have an impact from the bench, but unless these players find their top level, we’ll miss out on the Champions League.
