A 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace marked Liverpool’s top four chances completely imploding, or so some would have you believe.
Two draws for both Manchester clubs in a week and a crushing derby defeat for Arsenal later and suddenly Jurgen Klopp’s men are functioning on new hope. Dare we believe that Liverpool could still qualify for the Champions League?
It’s time to be brave, Reds. Earn the opportunity to compete with Europe’s elite that you deserve. Thrive under pressure, bully your four remaining opponents, out-score them, out-muscle them, grant this club the opportunity to build a title challenging squad in the summer. Keep the faith, regardless of what happens against Watford tonight.
Liverpool’s final run-in, on paper, is one that promises to divide opinion with many still resting on the fear that we struggle against teams lower down in the league. Wins away to Stoke and West Brom, however, set the tone in that respect. It doesn’t have to be pretty, it doesn’t have to be Liverpool at their best. It just has to be three points.

Though Liverpool’s run-in perhaps looks the most favourable, the club’s mixed 2017 suggests it will be far from straight forward. Having said that, it is four games against four teams this highly-talented side should beat. Manchester United’s clash with Arsenal as well as their trip to face title-chasing Spurs pose as fixtures with the potential to also help Liverpool’s cause.
There are no excuses from this point. A maximum points finish is by no means beyond the capabilities of this team. ‘Be motivated’- urged by Phil Thompson.
