Klopp aims subtle dig at Carragher in post-match interview

Jurgen Klopp and Jamie Carragher clearly have mutual respect for each other, but our former defender’s no-nonsense analysis of Liverpool occasionally rubs our manager up the wrong way!

Last night, we beat Watford 1-0 at Vicarage Road, which puts us in a very good position in regards to a top four finish.

We’re currently in third, ahead of the two biggest spending clubs in world football: Manchester United and Manchester City.

So when Klopp was asked by Sky Sports how much it would hurt if we missed out on a Champions League spot, he wasn’t especially impressed!

“After a win like this you tell me it could slip through our fingers. That’s how a lot of Liverpool fans feel, Mr Carragher also,” the boss said (cited by ESPN).

In fairness, Klopp has a point. The pundits should have been congratulating him and his side for a win and concentrating on Emre Can’s mindboggling goal.

By all accounts, barely anybody predicted Liverpool would finish ahead of City, United and Arsenal this season – so the fact we’re on track to do so is impressive.

Now, all we can do is win our next three matches and a spot in next year’s Champions League is ours.
