Simon Mignolet is now an above average Premier League goalkeeper.
Whether he’s good enough long-term? Who knows – but his improvement this season has been truly impressive and Liverpool fans should take note of it.
Check out these stats, courtesy of @DanKennett which are circling the internet this morning…
Between 2013 and 2016, Mignolet was ‘worse’ than the average Premier League goalkeeper in three key measurements: Aerial Duel Success Rate, Minutes Per Error and Claim/Punch Success Rate.
This season, he’s performing better than the average Premier League stopper in all of those yardsticks…
Saw these stats on Reddit this morning.. Mignolet has gone from a liability to a strength – FACT. pic.twitter.com/tGVh2RM1Qc

Recently, he’s saved us against Stoke and West Brom and is an automatic starter at the backline with few fans criticising his selection.
Have Liverpool finally got a keeper worthy of filling Pepe Reina’s boots? Four years after the Spaniard left?!
