Trent Alexander-Arnold stole the spotlight once again on Monday night as he scored for Liverpool’s U23s in their 2-1 mini-derby win over Everton.

The Reds starlet was at hand to expertly finish off Marko Grujic’s bursting run from midfield, striding onto a pass on the right hand side of the penalty area before firing the ball into the far corner from a tight angle.

His strike just around the hour mark followed up Sheyi Ojo’s sixth minute opener and proved to be decisive with Everton eventually unable to draw level having pulled one back through Calum Dyson’s deflected goal in the 83rd minute.

The full-back’s goal typified everything Liverpool fans have come to admire about him. Incredible energy, a willingness to run beyond the midfield and into goal scoring positions, electric pace, self-belief and exquisite technical ability. He is a free spirit and an absolute joy to watch when in full flow.

Liverpool managed to come through a tense finish to hold on for a win against the champions Everton in their final league game of the season.

A fiery and exciting contest was played out in front of a large crowd as Liverpool’s U23 stars, including plenty of familiar faces, demonstrated why a lot of them have been tipped for promising futures.
