Wijnaldum on how Liverpool can make final ‘biggest game of the season’ easy

The recognition of one final important game amongst the Liverpool players is something fans can take a lot of confidence from after Sunday’s emphatic 4-0 win over West Ham.

Middlesbrough have nothing to lose at Anfield next week and must not be taken for granted with the stakes so high on the last day of the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are just one win away from a place in the Champions League and Georginio Wijnaldum has expressed the importance of his team staying focused and playing as he knows it can.

“This will be our biggest game of the season. If we win we will be in the Champions League so the prize is big. If we lose or draw we might miss it,” the Dutchman told the Liverpool Echo.

“We have a big chance but we have to get a result. We will decide where we finish this season.”

“We can make it easy for ourselves if we play well and score goals. It’s down to us. It’s about how we start the game and how concentrated we are.”

“At this stage of the season every game gets bigger and the bigger.”

After dealing so well under pressure in Sunday’s game against West Ham, it would be disappointing for Liverpool not to go on and finish the job. Replicate their performance in the London Stadium and they should have no problems doing just that.

A chance to compete with Europe’s elite sides beckons, not to mention the opportunity for the club to take a significant step forward under Klopp. It’s up to Wijnaldum and his teammates to consolidate the top four spot they deserve.
