Juve don’t want Douglas Costa; LFC still keen & can pay €35m price

Most Liverpool fans will agree that Douglas Costa would be a terrifically exciting summer signing.

When we heard Juventus were close to getting a deal done, we gave up interest, as the Champions League finalists currently have more pulling power than ourselves, but it turns out the race for the Brazilian’s signature could be back on.

La Gazzetta dello Sport today claimed that Juventus are no longer interested in the 26-year-old flyer because of Bayern Munich’s €35m price-tag. They also suggest that the fee is well within Liverpool’s budget, should Jurgen Klopp decide he fancies Costa.

A few weeks back, Costa liked some tweets that linked with him to Liverpool, but since, any rumours of a switch to Merseyside have gone quiet until now…

In terms of attributes, he seemingly fits the ball. Costa can play on either flank, is quick and skilful, and can conjure brilliant moments from nothing. The only player in our squad who possesses his level of genius is perhaps Coutinho, although Costa’s slump since Pep Guardiola left Bayern is slightly concerning.

He’s failed to adjust to Carlo Ancelotti’s methods, but that doesn’t mean Klopp couldn’t reinvigorate him.

We don’t especially trust Italian reports on Liverpool, but they’re more likely to be right in regards to Juve losing interest. If they have, our potential path to Costa could now be slightly clearer.
