Klopp: Liverpool’s transfers are ‘pretty much done’

Liverpool could be announcing new signings in the next couple of weeks, if these quotes by Jurgen Klopp are anything to go by…

The boss was speaking after yesterday’s 3-0 Middlesbrough win, which confirmed our place in the top four – meaning we’ll be playing Champions League football next year, providing we get through a Play-Off.

According to Klopp, most of the targets have already been drawn up and the process of signing many of them is almost complete.

He told a press conference following the game: “We have already pretty much done (the work). We have to see. Most of the work is already done, of course. It’s not like tomorrow with Michael Edwards we will sit together and speak about what we think we need!

“Now we have to make decisions. Negotiations need to be done. All that stuff. But it’s all good. We are prepared, we will see what works out or not.

“There’s no training in the next few weeks. We fly tomorrow night for Australia, play the game, fly back and the holiday starts for all of us.

“Yes, I have a little of work to do. But I’ve work properly in my life when I was younger, so a few phone calls aren’t really work when you’re talking about wonderful things like football, Liverpool and other things.”

Now top four is secured, we can pour all our effort into trying to sign some star names. Naby Keita is the top target for midfield, with Virgil Van Dijk a primary target at the back.

The likes of Mo Salah, Julian Brandt and Timo Werner are being targeted for the final third, and it’ll be interesting to see whether Klopp signs a new left-back.

Ryan Sessegnon’s being targeted, but he’s just turned 17 and wouldn’t be an upgrade on James Milner just yet.

Many want a striker to be signed as well, but we’re unsure if Klopp will agree.
