Liverpool bring in Christopher Rohrbeck from Klopp’s former club Mainz

Liverpool have appointed a new physiotherapist for the 2017/18 campaign in German Christopher Rohrbeck.

The 38-year-old will work alongside Andreas Kornmayer, the head of fitness and conditioning, and nutritionist Mona Nemmer, both of whom were brought over from Bayern Munich last summer.

Rohrbeck had been with Mainz for 14 years, having worked for Jurgen Klopp during our manager’s spell at the Bundesliga minnows.

The physio will have also worked with Loris Karius, who joined Liverpool from Mainz last summer.

Liverpool’s backroom is now very much made in Klopp’s image, with Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz joining at the same time he did from Borussia Dortmund.

Development coach Pepijn Lijnders and goalkeeper coach John Achterburg were already here, but they remain some of the few that were contracted under Brendan Rodgers.

This season just gone, we had terrible luck with injuries, but they were primarily picked up during matches and only Daniel Sturridge’s were down to a poor base level of fitness.

Hopefully, Rohrbeck can help the squad stay healthy next term and recover from injuries nice and quickly.
