Talks between LFC and Naby Keita’s advisors have progressed; Reds willing to meet incredible wage demands

Liverpool transfer target Naby Keita emerged as a main topic of discussion on Friday with a number of reports reaffirming his current club’s stance and the hefty fee that could be required to secure his services.

The RB Leipzig midfielder has seemingly been prioritised by the Reds after a standout season that saw him score eight goals, register seven assists and help his side to a second-placed finish in the Bundesliga having only earned promotion last summer.

Earlier reports had suggested that it would take bids of £50-£60million to simply force Leipzig into reconsidering their approach, with the German side intent on keeping hold of the Guinean.

It appears, however, that Liverpool will be prepared to break their transfer record to bring the 22-year-old to Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp eyeing him up as an elite player capable of bolstering the spine of the team.

The Reds will not be put off of by his high price-tag and are also willing to meet Keita’s wage demands of around £120,000 a week with talks between the club and his advisors having already progressed, according to the Mirror.

Klopp supposedly views Keita as the best player in his position in Europe and will be granted the spending power to pursue him thanks to the record transfer budget Liverpool’s Fenway Sports Group owners are set to hand him.

News of Keita’s £50million valuation has fuelled suggestions that the club’s current record transfer fee could be surpassed twice this summer with Southampton defender and main Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk likely to cost the same.

Without sounding too confident, the Keita deal poses as one giving off all the right signals at this stage.
