Coutinho set for captaincy, demonstrating unbelievable Brazilian rise

With Neymar not playing for Brazil in their upcoming friendlies with Australia and Argentina, it’s been revealed by Goal that Liverpool’s no.10 Coutinho could wear the armband, in what would be a monumental honour for our 24-year-old.

Manager Tite has made Coutinho a vital part of his starting XI and our playmaker has paid him back, playing a crucial role in Brazil topping the South American World Cup Qualification Group.

Coutinho’s been tapped up again, but this is perhaps the most worrying yet…

Alongside Neymar and Gabriel Jesus, Coutinho has formed a triumvirate that is taking every other national side Brazil comes up against apart right now.

Naturally, Tite has become an enormous fan of Coutinho, but to give him the captaincy would signify just how highly he rates him. Remember, before Tite’s appointment, Willian started ahead of our star, who wasn’t even selected as part of the 2014 World Cup squad.

We’d be delighted for Coutinho on a personal level, but would again be worried that certain Spanish vultures may continue to circle with his stock so clearly on the rise.

However, he has a long-term contract and Liverpool have no willingness to accept even the most insane offer for his services.

Perhaps one day he’ll skipper Liverpool, too?
