Echo rubbish LFC’s link to French PL winner; LB hunt continues

Contrary to reports, Liverpool are not interested in free transfer Gael Clichy from Manchester City and have not offered the Premier League winner a two-year deal.

This is according to the Echo, who reiterate that our pursuit of Ryan Sessegnon has hit a dead-end, with Fulham’s 17-year-old preferring a switch to Tottenham so he can remain at the family home in London.

The Echo also claim that while Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy has been linked, he’s more likely to end up at Manchester City or Chelsea, both of whom are willing to pay the very hefty price it will require to bring him to England.

Alberto Moreno is still expected to depart, but right now, there seems no obvious names lined up to replace him.

Ricardo Rodriguez of Wolfsburg is available, especially if his side lose their relegation Play-Off fixture, but the Swiss has actually endured a poor season and there’s been no indications Jurgen Klopp wants him.

In fact, the manager is a big James Milner fan and we wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool only signed a backup left-back this summer and not the experienced starter many fans are craving.
