Divock Origi could be involved in somewhat of a transfer merry-go-round this summer.
Both Lyon and Monaco are interested in signing our Belgian hotshot as a replacement for their potentially outgoing stars: Alexandre Lacazette and Kylian Mbappe respectively.
Those French forwards are on Liverpool’s shortlist themselves, subsequently.
This is according to Football Whispers, who suggest Liverpool would be willing to part ways with Origi, who’s showed promise all too inconsistently during his two full seasons at the club. Last term, the 22-year-old notched 11 goals in 43 total appearances, although only 21 of those were from the start. On the surface, this appears a decent return, especially when you consider this is the same as the continually lauded Marcus Rashford and more than £60m Anthony Martial – but too often he’s gone missing and showed a lack of bite in the final third.
Due to his age and potential, we’re sure Origi would command a large fee, but we’d only be happy with his departure if a senior striker was signed in his place. Dominic Solanke was confirmed yesterday, but he’s never played adult football outside of Holland and is one for the future.
Mbappe is likely to sign for Manchester City or Real Madrid, with one of those clubs ready to break the world-record for his signature, but Lacazette is a more realistic Liverpool target.
He can’t sign for Atletico Madrid anymore due to their transfer ban, and won’t move to Arsenal due to their Champions League failure. Could a swap-deal be on the cards?
