Coutinho speaks Barcelona (again..) while with Brazil

Coutinho celebrates his 25th birthday today, and as a present, reporters fired more irritating questions about a potential future move to Barcelona.

Our star player is currently with the national team over in Australia and will play a friendly against the Socceroos tomorrow.

He’s skippering the side, a wonderful honour, but still had to navigate questions about a blockbuster transfer to Spain.

Thankfully, he batted the question off and didn’t fan the flames.

“Talking about this is complicated,” he said, reported in the Echo. “I have a contract with my club and it is long. So my focus is on the present and the national team. My focus is here.”

It would be nice if Coutinho flatly denied wanting to leave and openly committed his future to Liverpool, but signing his new contract in January effectively did just that.

There’s absolutely no way he’ll depart this summer, and don’t need to worry about holding onto our no.10 until 2018 at the earliest.

Hopefully though, Coutinho will stay with us for the foreseeable future and win some trophies at Anfield.

Liverpool’s last piece of silverware was picked up in 2012 and it’s about time this was rectified.
