Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton are competing for the services of Sunderland talent Joel Asoro, reports the Sunderland Echo.
The 18-year-old lit up the Under-23 league last term, bagging 15 goals in total – earning a Premier League debut under David Moyes as well.
He’s a regular member of the Sweden Under-21s team and is tipped to play for Sunderland’s first-team in the Championship next season.
Asoro’s rated at £5m, which seems fairly steep for a player of such limited experience, but his price definitely reflects the state of the transfer market.
With Ben Woodburn moving to the first-team and the likes of Sheyi Ojo and Ryan Kent expected to leave on loan, the Under-23s probably needs strengthening, although in Dominic Solanke, one very exciting youngster has already arrived to bolster the frontline.
Rhian Brewster is also making waves for Liverpool at youth level and we’re excited to see which players follow the likes of Woodburn and Trent Alexander-Arnold into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans next term.
Expect to get an indication during pre-season, with Liverpool’s manager certain to use a number of youth players during our multiple summer friendlies.
