Aubameyang to Liverpool rumours resurface with striker reportedly open to move

This teasing transfer window has excelled itself once again by clinging onto rumours linking Liverpool to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and luring fans into a cruel state of optimism.

The Borussia Dortmund striker has been subject to suggestions the Reds want him perhaps more times than he has been subject to actual approaches from the club.

Liverpool are one of a number of teams in pursuit of the forward and are willing to pay €70m to lure him to Anfield with the player also open to the move, according to French news outlet Le Parisien.

Aubameyang’s proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer has failed to materialise as of yet, thereby hinting at the idea reports linking Liverpool to the 28-year-old could be a ploy to push the the player and his current club to make a decision.

Jurgen Klopp is an obvious admirer of the Gabon international having signed him from Saint Etienne for Dortmund in 2013 and will have undoubtedly enquired about his former player at one point since his arrival on Merseyside.

That said, a deal seems unlikely given added interest from Real Madrid, not to mention the absence of confirmation from England’s reliable sources.

Aubameyang has been prolific since moving to Germany, scoring 85 goals in 128 appearances and emerging as one of Europe’s most highly-regarded and in-demand attacking assets. Signing him would mark a huge statement of intent for any club.
