Newcastle and Burnley competing for Liverpool’s U20 World Cup winner

Uncertainty over Sheyi Ojo’s future at Liverpool has seen the winger emerge as a loan-target for two Premier League clubs following his impressive U20 World Cup-winning campaign.

Ojo endured a tough 2016/2017 season at Liverpool, suffering with injury setbacks and failing to make more than two appearances for the senior team.

Burnley have now joined Newcastle United in showing interest in Ojo with both clubs eyeing up a loan deal for the 20-year-old, according to the Mirror.

A temporary move at a fellow top-flight side would represent an invaluable opportunity for an undeniably talented youngster in desperate need of experience and competitive first team football.

Though Jurgen Klopp’s approach promises Ojo a chance to prove himself, inevitable summer arrivals make it difficult to see him holding down a regular spot in the squad.

Minutes in next season’s cup competitions beckon yet it remains to be seen whether football’s most expensive 14-year-old will pursue a move in aid of his development.

The explosive pace and natural width Ojo provides does present him as a potentially useful alternative, equipped to fit Klopp’s style of play. This thereby makes an uninterrupted full-season in Liverpool’s U23s and a few first team outings a real possibility for a man admired by his manager.
