Liverpool ace (20) set to move to Premier League new-boy

Liverpool have been given assurances by Brighton & Hove Albion that Joe Gomez will be given regular playing time if we were to allow the defender on loan there this season.

The Mirror claim a year-long loan deal is close to completion, after Chris Hughton assured Jurgen Klopp the 20-year-old would feature regularly on the south coast.

Gomez hasn’t made a single Premier League start under Klopp and we think this move makes a lot of sense.

At Brighton, he will have to do plenty of defending and will get to experience the top flight regularly for the first time – hopefully at centre-back.

The youngster began life at Liverpool in Brendan Rodgers’ first-team, but a cruciate injury stunted his development and he’s been predominantly banished to our Under-23s during Klopp’s tenure.

As we’re planning on bringing in a new, big-name centre-back this summer, Gomez would be further down the pecking order in 2017/18. This way, he has 12 months to prove he has what it takes to represent Liverpool long-term.
