Liverpool linked with Sevilla’s Spain international, but it’s total rubbish

Liverpool are NOT trying to buy a new goalkeeper this summer and are NOT looking into the possibility of offloading Simon Mignolet, Loris Karius and Danny Ward.

So you can ignore claims by Spanish outlet COPE that we’re heavily considering making a bid for Sevilla no.1 Sergio Rico.

The 23-year-old has a £26m release-clause and is undoubtedly a talent, but it’s quite simply not going to happen.

Rightly or wrongly, Jurgen Klopp is more than happy with the options currently at his disposal – especially considering Mignolet’s wonderful end to 2017.

What’s more, we’ve recently rejected a loan approach for Ward from Huddersfield – so with three good stoppers on the books – you can certain we’re not looking to bring in another!

Instead, Liverpool are focussing on one marquee signing at a time this summer. Mo Salah has been confirmed, and it’s Naby Keita next. The Reds are ready to pay £70m for Red Bull Leipzig’s star, claim the Times, but it remains to be seen if the Germans are willing to do business.

If we do get the Guinean over the line, we’ll go all out for a centre-back ahead of the new campaign.
