‘ITK’ ex-pro names Keita’s likely LFC shirt number #chubbyfingers

If Liverpool sign Naby Keita on a record deal this summer, we could finally have found the man to fill Steven Gerrard’s vacant no.8 shirt…

When our skipper left in 2015, many wanted the number retired, but although it hasn’t been – it’s yet to be bestowed upon a player deemed worthy enough.

But according to Liverpool’s former Guinean striker Titi Camara (who claims to have the inside track on Keita’s transfer proceedings), the midfielder has specifically requested Gerrard’s no.8.

(Although he originally claimed he was after the no.9 before apologising for his typo!)

Regardless, this is the kind of confidence we like to see in our prospective buys!

The 22-year-old is desperate to sign for Liverpool, but so was Virgil van Dijk, meaning there’s still an awful lot of work to be done before a deal is finalised…

Getting Red Bull Leipzig to agree a fee will be tricky, but there’s signs that suggest it’s possible – with the Germans leaving Keita out of their latest new kit promo.

By the end of this week, we’ll know if the proposed £70m deal is on.
