Liverpool eye bizarre move for Aston Villa man; only interested on one condition

The Liverpool rumour mill has visibly picked up the pace in recent days and seemingly latched onto a few wild new transfer stories.

Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi has emerged as a target for Liverpool with the Reds considering a move for the Frenchman, according to the Mirror.

The 23-year-old recently saw his proposed £8.5million move to Sevilla collapse after doctors at the La Liga club deemed it possible he could suffer a repeat of the anterior cruciate ligament injury he picked up in 2015.

Fears over his long-term fitness have thereby resulted in Liverpool only being open to an initial loan deal in order to monitor his knee issue.

The timing of the news presents a move for Amavi as unlikely given reports suggesting Liverpool are already closing in on an £8million deal for Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson.

Adding a backup for the Scotland international would, though, reduce the chances of James Milner having to feature as part of the back four next season. That said, Klopp will undoubtedly be comfortable putting the Englishman back in his unconventional role if need be.
