Liverpool Fixtures Predictions
There is a little over 20 days before the new Premier League season kicks off, so we figured that we would give you a rundown of how we think each of the first few fixtures are going to go. We know that we are all Liverpool fans here, and we do want our team to win every match, but let’s try and be as realistic as possible, shall we?
Watford v Liverpool
We have the honour of this being the ‘featured match’ that day on Sky Sports. We best play up to the cameras a bit! If anybody can remember last year, we demolished Watford 6-1 at home. The away fixture gave us a handy 1-0 win.
We can’t imagine that we are going to see a 6-1 stonking again, but we reckon a good 1-0 or 2-0 is not out of reach.
This one is a dead-cert going Liverpool’s way, so you may want to hop on a few betting sites and get those bets in early!
Liverpool v Crystal Palace
The chaps from Croydon will be paying a trip to us for this fixture. Last season’s results were a little bit weird. We started in October with a 4-2 win over them at Selhurst Park, but when they came to us, we lost 2-1.
We are going to assume that the loss was a bit of a fluke. Or, we hope it is. We have not seen Crystal Palace strengthen all that much during pre-season. In fact, they didn’t even have a manager for the start of it. We are going to put this down to a win for us too.
That is 2 for 2. Maybe we should just end the season at this point?
Liverpool v Arsenal
Ah. Now things are getting a little bit difficult. Arsenal have invested in their team during pre-season (yeah, we know, completely barmy!). We got the full six points against them last season. 4-3 at the Emirates and 3-1 at Anfield.
How do we see it going this season? Well, to be quite honest with you, we are going to put this one down for a draw. In fact, we put both fixtures against them down as a draw now…unless something rapidly changes.
We are at home, so we have a bit of an advantage there. However, Wenger is determined to kick his doubters into touch and put on a decent challenge for the Premier League title this season. They are going to be tough to beat.
If you can’t get to Anfield, you can catch this one on Sky Sports too!
Manchester City v Liverpool
Woe is us. Two banana skin games in a row. Last season, we had a win against Manchester City and a draw. Yay us! This season? Manchester City may be a bit too tough for us to crack. This is a team which is having millions and millions of pounds invested in them. We may be the mighty Liverpool, but we could never dream of having the amount of money poured into us that Manchester City are getting.
If this is not a win them, it will be a draw. We can’t see us going to Manchester and coming away with more than a single point.
Liverpool v Burnley
Burnley kicked off their season last year by defeating us 2-0. The follow up fixture was 2-1 to us. We are going to assume (no, we are hoping and praying), that their 2-0 last season was a fluke. This game is in our hands…we would hope! If you are heading to some new betting sites, then lump it on us to win 2-0.
Leicester City v Liverpool
Playing against Leicester was weird last season. The first match, we destroyed the Premier League winners (yep, still can’t believe it ourselves), 4-1. The follow-up was a 3-1 loss. This makes it tough to predict the way the match is going to go. We would like to assume that Liverpool are going to win. Leicester are not a brilliant team, and they have not really strengthened, but who knows?
For now, we are putting this down as a draw.
Newcastle United v Liverpool
Newcastle are back in the Premier League. It felt empty without them! (sadly, they lost Sunderland, but that is a sob story for another day). We have no recent fixtures against them, so we can’t rely on last season as ‘evidence’. We are going to still go for a Liverpool win, though. We are a top half of the table team. They have just been promoted from the Championship. Next year they will give us a challenge. This year…not so much.
