LFC team-mate explains why new signing is ‘flying’

Mo Salah is enjoying his time at Liverpool because he feels ‘free to be himself,’ according to Gini Wijnaldum.

Since the £34m winger arrived from Roma, he’s been nothing short of sensational in the pre-season friendlies – scoring twice and putting in consistently threatening performances.

It’s been disappointing that we’ve so far failed to land Naby Keita or Virgil van Dijk, but the way Salah has settled in has been one of the real bonuses of the summer.

“He’s really flying,” the Netherlands international told Liverpool’s official website, cited in FourFourTwo. “I didn’t see his goal because I was in the changing room but I heard it was a good goal.

“He has settled in really well. He’s not only a great player but also a great person, and that makes it easier for him but also for us to accept him. Since the moment he came here, he felt free to be himself. It’s a good thing for us.”

We reckon that this season, Salah will be used primarily from the right, with Sadio Mane on the left and Coutinho in a deeper midfield role.

This will enable the Brazilian more of the ball and he’ll hopefully be able to assist his onrushing wing-forwards with the kind of beautiful passes Salah bagged from against Hertha Berlin at the weekend.

With the likes of Wijnaldum, Emre Can and Jordan Henderson providing energy and support from the middle as well, Jurgen Klopp has options aplenty for 2017/18 even without Keita’s arrival.
