Instead of encouraging Coutinho to join him at Barcelona, Spanish outlet Sport claim that Neymar has actually been telling Liverpool’s no.10 to wait and hold out for a PSG move.
They claim that Barcelona’s superstar, the subject of a £196m bid from the French billionaires, has been ‘inundating’ Coutinho with WhatsApp messages all summer long.
Sport write: “During his stay in the United States, Neymar dedicated himself to overwhelming messages from Whatsapp to Philippe Coutinho. He asked (and continues to do so) to disregard the offer of FC Barcelona and to do as he join PSG.”
How they’ve got access to Coutinho’s iPhone inbox, we’re a little dubious – but are obviously aware that the good friends will have been on speaking terms – especially with both involved in transfer rumours.
If this all went down, PSG would have half the Brazilian starting XI in their ranks, with Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Lucas Moura all on the books as well.
Liverpool though have already rejected a £72m bid for Coutinho from Barca and would do exactly the same to any offer that arrives from Paris – regardless of its size.
He’s going nowhere, regardless of whether Neymar likes this fact.
