Liverpool CEO clarifies transfer situation; maintains superb fan interaction

Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore has continued his fine start to life in his new job by issuing a necessary statement of clarification regarding the club’s transfer business.

The Reds CEO, who was appointed in February, has been extremely vocal on social media since starting in his role, responding to questions from supporters and showing a great sense of humour with tricky topics.

He has already become a popular man on Merseyside, making his love for his boyhood club and his appreciation for the fans no secret.

Moore has, however, taken to Twitter to outline the club’s approach to transfer dealings having been inundated with questions over possible new arrivals that simply don’t apply to his job role.

Pressure has seemingly been mounting amid Liverpool’s separate pursuits of Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk and RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita, as well as Barcelona’s move for Philippe Coutinho.

A frustration amongst some fans appears to have stemmed from the club failing to sign top target Keita, with the Guinean’s current employers refusing to budge from their ‘not for sale’ stance.

Moore has rightly pointed out that the responsibility of dealing with transfers lies primarily with sporting director Michael Edwards and manager Jurgen Klopp.

He may be at hand to have a bit of fun with the odd transfer rumour, but he isn’t the man who makes them happen.

That said, we’re sure the ‘sign Reus’ and ‘sign Van Dijk’ requests will continue.
