Liverpool’s £15m pre-season star could play AGAINST Reds on opening day

Liverpool look set to be pushed into making a decision over Alberto Moreno with yet another club preparing to launch an approach for the Spaniard.

The left-back lost his place to James Milner in Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup last season and has been strongly tipped to leave the club this summer.

Watford, who will host Liverpool on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, are now readying a move for the 25-year-old, according to the Liverpool Echo’s Kristian Walsh.

The jury had previously been in agreement with regards to the decision to sell Moreno during this transfer window, until a series of impressive pre-season performances- including a standout display in Tuesday’s Audi Cup win over Bayern Munich.

An inspired outing somewhat triggered a gradual, very gradual, u-turn in terms of fans beginning to appreciate what the former Sevilla man may still be able to offer at Anfield.

His talent as an attacking outlet has never been disputed, but it hasn’t always been on show, much to the frustration of supporters.

It’s been his lack of consistency going forward that has left him exposed to criticism towards his defensive frailties, which he has seriously struggled to rectify.

The signing of Andrew Robertson from Hull and the possibility of Milner retaining his place at left-back has put Moreno’s future in doubt, although it remains to be seen whether Klopp will now have second thoughts.

Liverpool have already rejected an £11million bid from Napoli for Moreno, reportedly setting their asking price at £15million.
