The staggering 9-figure price Barca will now pay for Coutinho revealed

Barcelona are ready to make Coutinho the second most expensive player of all time after Neymar moved to PSG this summer and broke Paul Pogba’s world record.

The problem for the Spaniards is that Liverpool still have absolutely no intention of accepting such an offer.

The Times claims Barca are willing to go as high as £120m for our Brazilian sensation, who’s emerged as their no.1 target to replace his international team-mate on the left of their attack.

However, this won’t change Liverpool’s stance, with FSG and management both united that it would be a travesty – football-wise and business-wise – for us to let our no.10 go.

The manner in which transfer fees have sky-rocketed this summer proves this. By 2018, £120m could be a much less attractive offer – and with Coutinho tied to a five-year contract – we’re in no rush to cash in.

Coutinho won’t throw his toys out of the pram either, so Liverpool are under no pressure to offload.

We can see him departing next summer, but hopefully only after he collects his first piece of silverware with Liverpool.
