Emre Can: Adam Lallana is… ‘different’

Emre Can has claimed Liverpool will miss Adam Lallana, who’s ruled out for at least three months, badly.

The Englishman picked up a thigh injury during the Audi Cup final against Atletico Madrid and will not feature for Liverpool again until the winter.

Can, our German powerhouse whose first-team chances have dramatically increased in Lallana’s absence, says that the 29-year-old’s skill-set is ‘different’ to Liverpool’s other midfielders – due to his phenomenal technical attributes and ability to play in tight spaces.

“Adam is a very important player. Of course, us midfield players now have to step up, everybody has to step up,” he told the official website.

“We have a different style of play to Adam but everybody has to prove themselves and fight for the team.

“I hope he’ll come back soon. He’s a fantastic player. We will miss him.”

With Lallana unavailable and Coutinho not expected to make the trip to Vicarage Road on Opening Day, Can is a definite to start…

Unless Jurgen Klopp does something very odd, Jordan Henderson will anchor the midfield trio, with the German and Gini Wijnaldum either side.

At times last season, these three lacked creativity when deployed together, but they’ve now got onrushing wingers in Sadio Mane and Mo Salah to feed – so hopefully this well help.

Can scored the Goal of the Season at Watford last term, and we’re hoping for some similar magic on Saturday!
