Nice chairman says LFC target will be sold ‘tomorrow’ if this bid comes in

Liverpool have turned our attentions to Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri after accepting the fight for Naby Keita has been lost.

Yesterday, the Guardian claimed that the 26-year-old Ivorian is now our primary central midfield target, with Jurgen Klopp desperate to strengthen his hand before the window closes.

Unlike Keita, Seri is very much available and has an affordable €40m release clause and a chairman who is willing to let him go.

“Seri has a clause worth €40m [£33m],” Jean-Pierre Rivere said earlier in the summer, via Daily Star.

“It made everyone smile when we put this clause in two years ago.

“At that price, he will be free. Without it, we do not have the intention to sell him for the moment.

“Even if people do not take clauses seriously in France, they deserve some sort of respect.

“If tomorrow, a club offers the clause for Jean, he will go.”

In this current market, £33m is almost a bargain price for a midfielder wanted by both Barcelona and PSG

Seri passes the ball between the lines superbly and would add our midfield a creative tendency, something it undeniably lacks with Coutinho and Adam Lallana are not playing.

Liverpool though have to decide whether we can deal with his medical problem which gives him chilblains in cold weather. Seri has previously said he could never play in a cold country as a result, so the club is obviously deciding whether the deal is worth the risk.
