Sunday will see Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield for a fixture that has served the Reds relatively well in recent years.
Whether it be Robbie Fowler’s four minute hat-trick, Daniel Sturridge putting Liverpool 4-0 up after 20 minutes, or Neil Mellor firing in a stunning late winner- it represents a contest fans have fond memories of.
Last season was no different, with Jurgen Klopp’s men cruising to a 3-1 win, thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, not to mention an unstoppable counterattacking display by Liverpool.
If Arsenal’s shoddy defensive performance in last week’s 1-0 defeat away to Stoke was anything to go by, Klopp’s frightening trio of Firmino, Mane and Mohamed Salah will get their fair share of chances to do some serious damage.
Building on an impressive record against the top six in 2016/2017 would be a significant statement early on in the season.
Let’s hope it is another day to remember.
