Georginio Wijnaldum was in the mood to torment on Sunday as he joined Emre Can and Jordan Henderson in outclassing Arsenal’s midfielders.
After a slow start to the new season, the Dutchman finally kicked into gear and put in an all-action performance reminiscent of him at his best during the 2016/2017 campaign.
If Can wasn’t overpowering Arsenal with his bursting runs and if Henderson wasn’t spearheading the high intensity pressing, Wijnaldum was teasing and humiliating his opponents.
The three did not give Arsene Wenger’s men a moment of rest bite, with Wijnaldum mopping up in front of his back four when required and driving forward to join in with attacks when the gaps appeared.
It was two occasions in particular that brought Reds to their feet, with the 26-year-old putting both Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka on their backsides with some superb skill on two separate occasions.
Enjoy Gini at his best…

It topped off what has been a memorable week for not only the club but Wijnaldum himself, who had also helped the Reds secure a place in the Champions League group stages on Wednesday, before welcoming his newborn baby son into the world a day later.
