Liverpool attacker ‘must leave,’ says his father…

Divock Origi’s father is desperate for his son to leave Liverpool and resurrect his career.

The inconsistent Belgian is mighty talented, but is currently behind Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke in our striking pecking order.

In fact, he’s not even making our bench at the moment and has been linked to a number of clubs as a result.

Mike Origi has always praised Jurgen Klopp and the club but having seen his son fall out of favour, wants a transfer sorted quickly.

Origi’s dad told DH.be, translated by the Newcastle Chronicle: “We’ve not been contacted by Anderlecht. Divock has to leave Liverpool to get more playing time.

“Tottenham is a possibility, but there is also interest from France and Germany.”

Ideally, Origi would be used as a makeweight in a deal which would see Thomas Lemar sign from Monaco, but there’s no guarantee the Ligue 1 champions are interested in his services.

A loan deal elsewhere is a possibility, especially with Danny Ings expected to eventually come back into the fray as well.

Origi has huge potential, but doesn’t have the natural confidence and exuberance to back himself on the field and take a game by the scruff of the neck.

Physically and technically, he could develop into an elite striker, but a spell outside of the club to regain his goalscoring prowess could do wonders.

We wouldn’t mind him joining Newcastle on loan, but would be against strengthening direct rivals Spurs.
