Our former midfielder wrote, in no uncertain terms, that Virgil van Dijk would indeed be signing for the Reds by the 11PM deadline.

Thompson follows us on Twitter so we’ve sent him multiple inboxes to see if he’s being genuine, but have yet to get a reply.

The tweet has already gone viral, but no journalistic sources are yet to back up his claims – despite the internet breaking at 1PM when the Dutchman was seen leaving Southampton’s training base in the back of a blacked out car.

There’s less than seven hours of the window left now so any potential transfer is going to down to the wire. Southampton have so far remained adamant that van Dijk will not be sold – and we published a piece this morning confirming this will almost certainly remain the case.
