Barcelona came in hard for Coutinho on Sep 1; but LFC embarrassed them again

For some reason, Barcelona actually thought Liverpool would change their minds AFTER the English transfer window for buying players had closed – and sell them Coutinho…

Why they thought we’d give in at the point we could no longer reinvest the Brazilian’s transfer fee is anyone’s guess; but reiterates the lack of sense they showed throughout ‘negotiations’.

We say negotiations – but they were really just a series of emails/phone-calls met with the same response by FSG: ‘He’s not for sale’.

Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph confirms that Barca tried one more time on September 1, as the Spanish window was open for a day longer than ours, but were emphatically denied.

The Spaniards have disrespected us to such an extent, we’d quite like Liverpool to refuse to sell them any of our stars pointblank from this point onwards.

If Coutinho still wants out next summer, sell him to PSG or Real Madrid. Barca can swivel.
