Lewis met with Liverpool’s boss when Barcelona first bid £72m for Coutinho, with many expecting us to eventually give in and let our star player leave for pastures new…

But Klopp politely told the journalist that under his watch, that simply wouldn’t happen:

“Liverpool’s position has always been that Coutinho has not been for sale. We spoke to Klopp and he said, ‘I wasn’t manager when Suarez was sold, I wasn’t manager when Sterling was sold – I’m manager now, and we’re not selling him!” he said.

Despite multiple bids coming in for the 25-year-old, FSG and Klopp stood firm.

He’s back at Melwood, but will not feature on Saturday against Manchester City, with the boss deciding to wait until he improves his fitness having yet to play for us this campaign.
