Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been explaining how Jordan Henderson has been in his ear about one day signing for Liverpool since 2012 – when our new signing first broke into the England team!

Last week, we confirmed the £35m arrival of the midfielder from Arsenal, after Oxlade-Chamberlain turned down Chelsea’s mega-bucks.

The 24-year-old is on the bench against Manchester City today, but will hope to make a debut at the Etihad.

According to Ox, Henderson’s sold him the Liverpool dream for some time!

“When I was with England with Stevie [Gerrard] we touched on Liverpool but Jordan [Henderson] is the one who most talked about Liverpool,” Oxlade-Chamberlain told The Times.

“For five years he’s kept telling me that I need to come to Liverpool because he was enjoying it so much and he feels I’d fit in, and the club would get the best out of me. This week it’s come true.”

It’ll be mighty interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp deploys his latest signing this term.

The Englishman played at right wing-back for Arsenal, but is an option for four positions in Liverpool’s current system: both the no.8s and the wing positions currently occupied my Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.
