(Video) Salah puts Liverpool ahead as strike takes outrageous deflection

Mohamed Salah ensured Liverpool’s good first half work against Sevilla didn’t go to waste as he found the back of the net to give the hosts a deserved lead.

The Reds responded well to Sevilla taking a shock early lead through Wissam Ben Yedder, with Roberto Firmino levelling things up from close range before Salah put his team ahead for the first time in the 37th minute.

Liverpool’s summer signing was heavily involved in a frantic first half, proving to be a valuable outlet down the right-hand side and causing the La Liga side problems throughout.

Salah had a stroke of luck when putting the home side in front as he saw his strike take a huge looping deflection on the way in. The winger didn’t mind though, and nor did a relieved Anfield crowd.

The summer signing’s contribution seemed to trigger a step up from his teammates, who put together an explosive finish to the half- which included Firmino missing a penalty.

Here’s a look at Salah’s goal…
