Solanke up against Mbappe/Dembele for prestigious world award

Posted by

Congratulations Joe Gomez and Dominic Solanke!

Both of whom have been nominated for the Golden Boy award, which is given to the best Under-21 player in the world on an annual basis.

Solanke shot to fame after sealing a switch to Liverpool and helping England win the U20 World Cup, while Gomez has cemented a regular spot in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team.

However, they’re not going to win it, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe and Gabriel Jesus competing for the gong.

FULL LIST OF NOMINEES:

The past four winners of the award are Renato Sanches, Anthony Martial, Raheem Sterling and Paul Pogba – while Lionel Messi, Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero have also collected the gong in the past.

Hilariously, Manchester United flop Anderson won it in 2008!

Both Solanke and Gomez are expected to play tonight for Liverpool v Leicester in the Carabao Cup.

Hopefully, the nomination can motivate them to show Klopp they’re ready for more first-team minutes.
