The XI Klopp must pick to beat Leicester on Saturday

This is the team Jurgen Klopp should pick on Saturday against Leicester City, for us.

A rotated XI failed against the Foxes last night, which has seen us exit the League Cup – probably our best chance of silverware this term – already.

As a result, expect the boss to ring wholesale changes for the Premier League tie.

What Klopp said about Flanagan’s contract in 2016 makes sense now…

Simon Mignolet will return in goal, even though Danny Ward actually had a decent game between the sticks.

We’d prefer Joe Gomez at right-back, as he offers more defensively than Trent Alexander-Arnold, while Alberto Moreno is likely to return to the team with Andrew Robertson having played our past two matches.

Joel Matip should partner Dejan Lovren at centre-back. It’s not perfect, but we badly need these two together in every game – to build stability and increase confidence and understanding. Ragnar Klavan isn’t good enough.

Jordan Henderson was weak against Leicester and should make way for Emre Can, who was given a rest. Coutinho only played 45 minutes so will start again, while we’d pick Wijnaldum ahead of James Milner on the other side of the three.

Up top, with Sadio Mane crocked, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino will flank Daniel Sturridge – hopefully with more luck than we got v Burnley at the weekend…
