Jaw-dropping Mignolet stat gets the football world talking

There’s been plenty of Simon Mignolet stats shared over the years, but none quite as impressive as this!

Our Belgian goalkeeper has a superb penalty record, saving five of the past eight he’s faced in the top flight.

In comparison with some legendary Premier League keepers, he’s miles and miles ahead when it comes to stopping spot-kicks.

In fact, he’s better than Peter Schmeichel, David de Gea, Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech combined when saving from 12 yards – saving the same number of penalties as those four put together!

Granted, he’s not quite as impressive in some other aspects of goalkeeping, but it’s an impressive feat nonetheless.

Mignolet has come under criticism for his performance against Leicester at the weekend and won’t play this evening in the Champions League, with Jurgen Klopp deciding Loris Karius is the European stopper.

But expect the regular no.1 to be back between the sticks against Newcastle at the weekend – although he’ll begin to look over his shoulder if Karius has a good game in Russia against Spartak Moscow.
