‘I thought I was getting the sack’ Dalglish explains recent FSG meeting

Today, Kenny Dalglish will be rewarded for being Liverpool’s greatest ever servant.

Ahead of the crunch clash with Manchester United, the Kenny Dalglish Stand is being unveiled for the first time, and the Kop will hold a mosaic tribute to the Scot.

But when Kenny found out about the honour, he thought FSG were firing him again – just as they did in 2012!

“Mike Gordon was over and he asked to see me at Melwood,” Kenny told Sky Sports.

“I went up to Jurgen Klopp’s office and there was a laptop there and John and Linda (his wife) were on it and there was another one with Tom Werner on it,” he continued.

“John started speaking and I thought, ‘What have I done now?’ I thought I was getting the sack again.

“I thought I was in trouble and then he said they wanted to name the stand after myself, as well as for the football it was for the work done with the community with Marina (Dalglish’s wife) and the charity and everything.”

The whole situation sounds a little awkward and in some ways disrespectful, considering the laptops on the table and whatnot.

But there we go. The most important thing is that FSG decided to rename the stand in the first place.

It will be a great occasion and we hope it will inspire the team into a top performance.

A win will catapult our season and put us all in a terrific mood for the weekend. A loss doesn’t currently bear thinking about!
